    • Hey, Thank. I felt bad about this one. Sometimes, I post what I do , despite my feelings about a piece, because I believe that someone will see something in it, that it will evoke a response. And it did here, so COOL!!

They probably don’t like the feeling they get, but that’s not a bad thing in art. Art should provoke. This piece provokes. Remember, not everything in the creative arts is supposed to make people feel good. Often, the most important works of art, music, writing – whatever – make people uncomfortable. Sometimes people need that to knock them out of their pathetic state of complacency.

Of the music I make, my favorites are usually strange blends of progressive rock and funk with deeply felt lyrics done in a weird Frank Zappa/poetry reciting/rap (not hip-hop) vocal style. How’s THAT for disparate styles?? I refuse to write formulaic songs. Almost every band member I had over the years quit because they wanted to make money more than they wanted to make music. That’s OK, but it was never my way. I was inspired by Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Robin Trower, Frank Zappa, Funkadelic, Uli Roth, Neil Young, Roger Waters – artists. Yes, they all made money in music, but they made music that meant something THEN made money. They didn’t make music simply to make money. I borrow from artists that inspire me, but use creativity. I feel something and try to translate it into music. Few people like it, but that’s OK. I actually enjoy my own music once in a while. 🙂

.Sorry to appear to make it about me. I was just trying to get a point across. I like a lot of your art. I see expressions of deep thoughts and sometimes fun – whether it’s intended or not doesn’t really matter. That’s the magic of art. Different people can get different things from it.

Keep making art. Peace, my brother.

      • Hey, I know it took a long time to respond to this. A friend of mine
from my youth told me recently that Great Art does not need to be Pretty or feel good
to the viewer. I hear you on the money in creativity bit. A true Artist will most likely
create work, despite the cash in one’s wallet. I have also heard that when discussing funding
to the National Endowment for the Arts. The critic saying, ” Defund it, Artists will make Art anyway.”
A friend described it this way:
When dealing with the marketplace, if an Entity wants to sell your work or profit from it,
take a good look at them, if they are just a nice Empty Suit with good shoes, that if their
pockets are deep, and their soul shallow, THEN if you conform to their aesthetic to make money,
if you bend your beliefs, YOUR SOUL WILL BECOME AS EMPTY AS THEIRS. Scary thought. As far as
borrowing music, isn’t synthesis of style the cutting edge? Isn’t that what makes the current time
period Post-Modern? Damn right, that you should enjoy your music, and to heck with those who don’t get it.
A lot of people quit the arts, and maybe those just weren’t true to it, weeds them out. As for me,
I am married to my Art and Music, I have sacrificed a lot to it, including my Sanity. Married to it,
and that is my I most likely will never be in a committed romantic relationship with a human. I have
rambled long enough. Peace to you!
