Where is your inspiration from?

Great question! Prepare yourself for a long answer.
My first response was, I dunno. Thought for a second.
What drives me has changed through time. When I was young, I had friends who were Artists
that inspired me. I thought that if I could draw like them, then I would be beautiful. I also
saw it as a means to get an education, and move out of my hometown, maybe become a professor.
Now though, I realize that my Art does not reflect my self worth, I am not the quality of my art.
For a long time, if I made a bad piece then I sucked as a human. I am no longer deceived by that.
Another thing my Mom was an Artist, she passed away when I was a child. Growing up, her paintings were
all around me, I had no memory of her, so looking at her art is how I got to know her. I also realize that I am
an extension of her, it’s in my blood. I do not see, at my late age, having a family, kids. So I truly know
that my art will be how my spirit is passed on once I die, just like Mom. Finally on a daily basis, I am striving
to improve my skill, to get my Art Fix, to be satiated, happy with what I have created. So then I can stop for the day.
I want to make the best of my time on Earth, enjoy it, and have something tangible to leave behind. Long winded, huh?

No not at all! That was a most beautiful answer and a little of your journey to where you are now.. I was so touched by your writing of your mum, and her essence. I do believe too that it’s in the blood, both my grandparents were musicians and now my son, and he is always striving and never satisfied, an artist, musician’s mind! … I love the thought of living on through your art, as you would be inspiring your great great great grandchildren 💜
