Thank, I always think of the background in Leonardo Da Vinci’s paintings. If you look, you will see that they are more abstract than anything in the Abstract Expressionist movement in my opinion. His backgrounds are where he had his fun. I guess that those were being commissioned, so he had to find somewhere to play outside of realism. Just a thought..
