Desperate but Not Serious.

My old friend Tony Mancuso passed away this month.
Here is a memory about his character.
Setting the scene, you must understand this was in the Mid-West around 1985
during the HIV crisis in the Reagan Era.
In high school, I was all punked out wearing make-up all the time.
I was harassed constantly by rednecks. They would call me a fag and other un-pleasantries.
Tony stood up for me one day. A kid said,”Ted’s a HOMO!” Tony asked him why.
The hill-jack replied, “Cuz he’s wearin’ lipstick!”
Tony took lipstick out of his pocket, painted the redneck’s lips with it,
and then asked,
“You are wearing lipstick now. Does that make you Gay?”
So Tony liked Adam Ant, did this song for a sendoff to the great beyond for him.
