It’s okay about the wink thing, I don’t know how to do that either. So I do it the old fashioned way, like this: (wink wink). If you can think of other strong Women who are musicians or actresses that are photogenic like this, throw some names at me, and I might try to do an image. Thinkin’ icons.
I’ve always loved Joan Jett, but I felt like the real person who should’ve received more attention for The Runaways was Lita Ford. Lita Ford could play with and against some of the toughest musicians. I think because she used her sexuality more that a lot of people didn’t take her seriously.
Seriously thinking of doing Joan Jett. I know it is a bit strange, but only recently have I listened to the Runaways. Weird , huh? I have been aware of Jett since 1980..Early MTV days.
Definitely a strong woman who had to put up with crap she never should’ve had to. I’ve been watching Denis Leary’s new show Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. Lots of 80’s Rock nostalgia and Joan Jett made a guest appearance. The show is to me hysterical. Sure it’s crass at times but it’s Denis Leary. Most of the cast does their own playing and singing even John Corbet, who is a surprisingly talented, odd person. The banter between Jett and Leary is fun to watch. Also on the plus side she has great cheek bones and hair. lol For years I struggled to have hair like hers, but my thick frizzy curls just wouldn’t obey until a few years ago. I also wanted Rod Stewart’s hair and Vince Neil’s. The 90’s were a definite “Hair Envy” time period.
I understand. Between medications, Celiac Disease, and Kidney Failure, I see more and more left in the drain and brush. lol Another show I love is Roadies on Showtime. It was created by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous). I love it but a lot of people who work in the industry don’t. I think it’s fairly accurate on some levels. I don’t think it’s as gritty as real life. But every episode teaches you something and usually has a great musician that pops up for a song. John Mellancamp was on a week ago. The song he sang brought me to tears. One of the few artists I’ve seen in concert that appreciated his audience. Came out in a T-shirt and jeans, thanked everyone for spending their hard earned money to see him and played for 4 nonstop hours. You don’t get that very often anymore.
Great! Two things. I love the movie Almost Famous. Been playing with the idea of doing a Kate Hudson image. I did one, but it was so bad, that I tore it to pieces and thru it in the trash. Will try again. Which Mellencamp song do you dig, I may do it. That is, if I haven’t already done a version. Um, yeah I live in Bloomington Indiana, he lives here. I have met him, but I won’t bore you with any stories, everybody has a story of meeting someone Famous. So anyway, throw a song title at me, by him.
I think I lost my comment! The Mellencamp song is “Longest Days”. My favorite songs from him are “Ain’t Even Done with The Night” and “Hand To Hold On To”. I also love The Babys with John Waite. There’s smoething about Kate Hudson that I can’t really watch. My brother in law pointed out her resemblance to a hammerhead shark once and it stayed with me. Meeting famous people can be a good thing linked to positive memories. It can also be a bad thing and help someone in their decision to stop drinking. That was my case. When I had absolutely no memory at ALL of meeting a band, driving with them to my friend’s apartment, and talking for several hours, it scared me. If there hadn’t have been pictures I would’ve thought a joke was being played. I didn’t stop right away but when I did I remembered that night.
