    • Hey thank! Remember the image that I sent you with my friend called Dwight? Well I got a message from her yesterday. It was a critique of what I do. She said that my skill and execution rendering images is great. Her complaint was that I have proven that I can do figure work. But, is that all? Said that the images are over sexualized. That, to her , great art is not pretty. This makes me think, how can I take it farther? Or, should I abandon figure work, and tell a different story. In the end, I told her that I will keep this in mind, that I just try to make images that I can deal with putting on my walls.

      • I wouldn’t like you to abandon figure work. You are very good at it. Are you trying to make ‘great art’? Does one actually set out to do that? Aren’t personal expression and ideas more what you are exploring? Yes take it further, if that is what you want to do. I would agree that you have been doing some sexualised images, but ‘over sexualised’? That is a very subjective comment. Did she ask about what your aims were in exploring that type of image? (They are not generally my favourites in your oeuvre but I wouldn’t presume to translate my preference into a criticism or into discouraging you from pursuing your exploration of that form.) have I helped or mad things worse? Good luck Ted and thanks for including me in these ruminations.
