Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, live.
I am not going to include lyrics with the song. If you do not know them by heart, I cannot fathom
how you missed it. I told a friend that I like doing Beatle covers. Her reaction was,
“Ah gawd, I HATE THEM! I had to take an entire semester course about them in college.”
That freaked me out, they teach Beatles in College? What the ‘bleep’?
Guess it sounded just as strange when I told my older friends that I had a course in American Jazz
and Blues, bebop, big band era, ragtime.
The first time I heard Sgt Pepper’s, I was 6 years old or so, mid 1970’s.
I had no idea of drug culture. The music was really vibrant to me.
I knew it was good.
Alright back to the drawing board!

This song has the reputation of being about LSD, but was actually inspired by a drawing by Lennon’s young son – it was a picture of his school friend Lucy, in the sky with diamonds. The connection to the hallucinogenic was no doubt not lost on the band, however 😉

That is a bit of history about the song that I was not aware of, the drawing! Hey, ya know I did a drawing of you right?
