Charlotte Sometimes (cover)
All the faces
All the voices blur
Change to one face
Change to one voice
Prepare yourself for bed
The light seems bright
And glares on white walls
All the sounds of
Charlotte sometimes
Into the night with
Charlotte sometimes
Night after night she lay alone in bed
Her eyes so open to the dark
The streets all looked so strange
They seemed so far away
But Charlotte did not cry
The people seemed so close
Playing expressionless games
The people seemed so close
So many other names
Sometimes I’m dreaming
Where all the other people dance
Sometimes I’m dreaming
Charlotte sometimes
Sometimes I’m dreaming
Expressionless the trance
Sometimes I’m dreaming
So many different names
Sometimes I’m dreaming
The sounds all stay the same
Sometimes I’m dreaming
She hopes to open shadowed eyes
On a different world
Come to me scared princess
Charlotte sometimes
On that bleak track
(see the sun is gone again)
The tears were pouring down her face
She was crying and crying for a girl
Who died so many years before
Sometimes I dream
Where all the other people dance
Sometimes I dream
Charlotte sometimes
Sometimes I dream
The sounds all stay the same
Sometimes I’m dreaming
There are so many different names
Sometimes I dream
Sometimes I dream
Charlotte sometimes crying for herself
Charlotte sometimes dreams a wall around herself
But it’s always with love
With so much love it looks like
Everything else
Of Charlotte sometimes
So far away
Glass sealed and pretty
Charlotte sometime

Oh, I love how you drew Charlotte — such strength! Your artwork goes so well with your excellent cover.

Thank you! Charlotte was a very real person in my life. I was her Bizzaro Ted. Yeah, it is spooky about the song, because it was written 20 years before I met her. Strange huh? Fits.

Bizarro Ted. I like it! Yes, everything in some kind of crazy order, does end up fitting at the end. Very strange and wonderful!
Thanks for sharing. xo

Hey, thank you for listening. I am really enjoying your abstracted photos. The blur in your images look like Modernist Paintings. I have meant to comment that on your site. Roll with it!

Awesome! Robert Smith at one point said that this was his version of a ‘perfect pop song’. I noticed that someone had seen that old post. Reminded me of Cure songs, so I just wrapped up doing a version of old song by them called “Other Voices”. Thank for spending your time here! ๐

Thats another amazing track . The first three albums were the soundtrack to my 20s…this really took me back and i loved your artwork as well.

Yes, the Cure were a theme music to my life, age 14 to 21…. The artwork is of an old friend that I have lost contact with..whose name was Charlotte. Hey do you have any ideas of Cure songs that you enjoy that I could cover, in my own way? That is, if I haven’t already covered a song a billion times, and also if I can actually pull it off?

Its so atmospheric the album Faith. I love it too… happy covering โฆ. ๐

Really atmospheric, yes. Confidence in their sound… that they let a song develop and do not rush into vocals, sometimes they might wait minutes before singing…

Hey, just did a version of ‘a Forest’… I could have done it better though.. Vocal Mic wasn’t loud enough.. Not used to the effect on the guitar..plus my voice is shot right now. Anyways…might do more cure tunes tomorrow when I wake…

I like it.. do you know the Australian band The Church? just made me think of them discussing The Cure this afternoon.

Yes, I am aware of them. I never realized that they were from Australia. I did a cover of Under the Milky Way , a few months back. Another Australian band that I loved was Men at Work.. Colin Hay as a songwriter. The first two Men at Work albums were great.

He was interviewed for an hour on Radio National only a few weeks ago It was really interesting to hear all he said about his life and then his recovery because he got sober later in in life after his wife left him. Yes, the Church don’t seem like an Aussie band do they but the lead singer is actually from my home down, Canberra.

Awesome that he is sober. I started to watch a documentary about his life..Problem is every time that I hear his music, I am compelled to play it. That is neat, about the lead singer being from your hometown. I also am aware of a young woman named Courtney Barnett who ia an Aussie. She has hit it huge with the alternative radio, and college circuit in the United States. I have yet to delve into her catalog.

Shes amazing too. I heard her interviewed last year to…I would love to hear more of Colin’s more recent songs as he played on that programme and it was really wonderful.. There is so much music out there.. I love Under the Milky Way .. reminds me of Echo and the Bunny Men too.

The Bunnymen were good too. I prefer the Church over them in comparison. Hey, feel free to throw song ideas at me, see if I can do them or if I know them. I have to log off right now and rest. It is awesome to have this exchange with you. Going to bed.. Nighty Night!

If you googled conversations with Sarah Konovski (not sure if that is the right spelling) on Radio National you may find the link to the interview with Colin Hay .. If I can find it I will send it to you.
