Alright so, I received a call from a friend at 4am. He said, “Hey, sunrise is in about two and a half hours let’s go take photo’s before dawn.” I reside in an area with only a few shacks. The structures are not enough to be called architecture. There is no way out except on foot in the wee hours of a day or night as the case may be. “I’m game!” I responded. I marched 4 miles past a site where an RCA plant that employed many citizens once stood. Tho now, it is just a PCB dump with no sewer or water lines. The county owns it. No one wants to build on the property because at one time it was an Environmental Protection Agency Super-site ( read= polluted). I just had to get that insult in here, I have no pictures of it. Arrived to the rendezvous point in 35 minutes.
We headed north. The first monstrosity that I encountered, the newly constructed Hilton hotel, or some sort of cheap chain thing seen below..
I have been skeptical about decisions made to build and develop areas of this small town. (click below to hear audio)
The city fathers endorse “Historical Preservation”, yet they destroyed a huge 100-year-old mural that depicted sheet music of a tune that I love, to prefabricate this homage to 1970’s puke design.
We continued but I really was starting to feel lost and vacant.
I saw a building or something, I dunno, it was all starting to get Surreal..it seemed like I was in Florida…..
My GOD in HEAVEN I SAW THE LIGHT!!!
My vision was still fuzzy, tho I managed to almost recognize a brick structure that at one time was vacant.
so we went around a familiar corner
marching up a hill
What I saw next was, was, ahHHH NO!! OH the HuMANITY!!!
What on EARTH , could be NEXT, what lies around this CORNER????!!!
I was scared and looked up to the heavens!!!
Tune in next time folks.. for the Journey from Nowhere to Civilization…
