So a few words about the song. When I was 5 or so years old, it would come over the AM radio.
I vaguely remember seeing Elton John do the song in a wild outfit, like a bird with odd
glasses, perfect for my child mind. Getting older, I am thinkin’ ‘BENNIES’ is Speed. So
that is all well and good (kinda). Then the kicker is after 9/11 in the States, the genius
government figured that the song should be banned because it referenced Airplanes. Silly
silly guv’ment. Going to include the lyrics, because honestly I never really knew
what they were in the first place. It’s also a kick because it is written for piano , not guitar.
