Catch a Prayer.
Okay Back Story on this one.
Last night, I had an epiphany.
Music is prayer to me. Praying is the act of music.
Though I do not so much believe in ownership of music,
I believe that people at differing places can ‘tune in’ to music in the ether
can get the exact same song. Folks who do not even know each other.
So I more believe in people CATCHING MUSIC, CAPTURING MUSIC, and that it
is PERFECTLY OKAY, for people to take credit for catching it.
Thus,to me, music is prayer to some sort of creator (whatever insert name here)
and from it, and praying is the act of music . You see, my life experience
has taught me that without God,( or some say the Tao, there are a billion names
for it) that I most certainly would be dead, or completely and totally insane.
I am lucky to be here. To be here to sing. So I thought, I should write a song
called Catching a Prayer. Then KABOOM, Duran Duran had done “Save a Prayer”
which is this cover, I just changed a few words. I made a note to cover it today.
Slept like a Baby for 13 hours. Really had a relaxed day. A few hours ago, I started
doing the tune. This took 13 tracks. I played bass, keyboards, guitar, snare, two vocal lines.
My computer could barely handle it. So I am also gonna give you the original lyrics below.
Enjoy, I would have mixed it better, but my machine couldn’t handle it.
(lyrics)
You saw me standing by the wall corner of a main street
And the lights are flashing on your window sill
All alone ain’t much fun so you’re looking for the thrill
And you know just what it takes and where to go
Don’t save a prayer for me now
Save it til the morning after
No don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it til the morning after
Feel the breeze deep on the inside look you down into the well
If you can you’ll see the world in all his fire
Take a chance like all dreamers can’t find another way
You don’t have to dream it all, just live a day
Don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
No don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after
Pretty looking road I try to hold the rising floods that fill my skin
Don’t ask me why I’ll keep my promise melt the ice
And you wanted to dance so I asked you to dance
But fear is in your soul
Some people call it a one night stand but we can call it paradise
Don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it til the morning after
No don’t say a prayer for me now
Save it ’til the morning after
Save it ’til the morning after

I’ve heard this song many times but never really listened to the words…good version, and now I know what they are singing about. Yes, let’s call it paradise! (K)

Thank you! If one does a Duran Duran song, it is almost a sin to not include keyboards. Tho, I was tempted not to use them.
