  1. I have been singing Prince songs all day. Loudly. When I read that he died, the first thing that flashed across my mind was, “I was dreaming when I wrote this so sue me if I go too fast.” It felt like the end of the world to me. But he would want a rock concert send off. Raspberry Beret has to be one of my all time favourite songs by any singer. Lovely work, Ted. Rock on.

    • Hey thank. I want to share something really strange with you. I made this recording over a year ago. I couldn’t find any sheet music for it online. Had to wing it. I noticed that also I couldn’t find any Prince videos, so I could watch his hands. I thought that he had cut off his internet presence with a purpose, that it would make the work more valuable when he would stream it. Okay, so I put this song on Soundcloud. I started getting massive numbers of hits on it. So I thought to myself, that folks must be starved for Prince, because of what I just mentioned. So quickly after a few thousand hits, I get a notice from Prince’s label, NBG, that told Soundcloud to take it down. They did. I didn’t bitch. I thought it was funny that a complete nobody, who streamed about 1 cent of content got shut down. I think, the reason , now , in retrospect, is because I did not cut the mustard as musician. Ya, know like, Ted You Butchered It.

      • That is an interesting story, Ted. Are you aware that Prince was on a campaign to remove all uploads of his music from YouTube/the Internet? He was an advocate for ending piracy so, sadly, your tribute presentation got caught up in that. I would take it as a compliment that your work was cool. One of his fans could have alerted the label to your presence. (They should have offered you a deal). Several thousand hits say you’re on to something.

      • Yeah, it seemed obvious to me when I couldn’t find sheet music either that Prince was up to something. A Musician friend said that to me as well, that it is a thumbs up if they were pissed enough to notice me. 🙂
